1. Get hands-on!


Being hands-on during labor is a fantastic way for dads to actively support their partners.


Techniques like massage and applying counterpressure can provide significant relief from labor pains. Gentle back massages can help soothe tense muscles, while applying steady pressure to the lower back, known as counterpressure, can alleviate the intense sensations during contractions. Massages and applying pressure during contractions can be a game-changer.


Trust me, those contractions can pack a punch, and a gentle massage or applying some pressure on the lower back can really help ease the discomfort. My husband was amazing at massaging my shoulders and back when I needed it, and it made all the difference for me as I worked through contractions.


Engaging in these physical supports not only aids in reducing your partner's discomfort but also deepens the emotional connection, showing your partner that you are there with them every step of the way!


Learning these techniques before the big day can make you an invaluable part of the labor experience, helping to make the process as comfortable as possible for the mother-to-be.


However, your wife may not know what she is going to need when she is in labor; feel free to try out some of the massaging and counterpressure techniques to see if any of them feel weird or uncomfortable, even outside of labor.
