An Easter egg hunt is a big tradition for a lot of families during Easter. In fact, the tradition has been around for hundreds of years! 🐰
If you're planning on having an Easter egg hunt for little ones this year, here are some easy and creative ideas to make it extra exciting and fun!

Hide Kid-Friendly Eggs - This might sound like an obvious one since most people already do this, but save the hardboiled eggs for eating and opt for bright-colored, kid-friendly easter eggs. If you have a baby or a toddler, they have jumbo easter eggs that will be a bit easier for them to spot! There are also eggs shaped like bunnies, carrots, and chicks.
You can fill these colorful plastic eggs with a variety of goodies such as stickers, erasers, or safe, age-appropriate, and better-for-you candies/snacks. This approach is not only exciting for the kids but also gives you the flexibility to cater to different age groups and dietary needs. Plus, plastic eggs can be reused year after year, making this a sustainable and cost-effective tradition for your Easter celebrations!
Tie Balloons to the Eggs - Ok, this idea is SO cute! If you have a really young toddler, give them a little hint by tying a balloon to all of the eggs. Not only will this guide them to the eggs, but your yard will be filled with adorable balloons, making your egg hunt stand out! I have seen it done with cute pastel-colored balloons to fit the Easter theme. If you don't want to tie a balloon to EVERY egg, tie a balloon to one egg and put the others in sight around that one.
Give them a Checklist - This one will benefit you as much as the little ones. 👀 Make a list of all the eggs that are hidden (5 yellow, 3 blue, 6 purple, etc.) and send them off on an Easter egg scavenger hunt!
And rest assured, knowing you won't be leaving any undiscovered eggs around your yard! You can set this up by colors, locations (5 by the slide), designs on the eggs, or the eggs that are shaped (5 bunnies, 2 chicks).
Assuming that you might have multiple children out looking for eggs, create a master list of all the eggs hidden for yourself, then break down that into multiple checklists. That way, each kid will have a similar amount of eggs to find and be on the search for certain ones!

Incorporate Music - Hide eggs around your yard or your house, and only let them hunt for the eggs while the music is playing. When the music pauses, they have to FREEZE! Then, they can start looking again when the music picks back up. So fun!
Just be sure to have a speaker that is mobile to transport outside and loud enough to fill your yard.
Fill the Eggs with Activities - A fun alternative to filling Easter eggs with candy is to fill them with little slips of paper that have an activity written on them (hop on one foot, spin around 3 times, walk backward to the next egg, 7 bunny hops, etc). This might be better for slightly older children (siblings) who can read or be prepared to help your little one read what the slips say.
As you set out to plan this Easter egg hunt for your little ones, remember that the joy truly lies in the giggles and the sprinting little feet. Using kid-friendly eggs filled with treats, tying balloons to make them extra special, providing a checklist for eager little hunters, and enriching the adventure with music and activities hidden inside the eggs, you're not just organizing an event. You're creating special memories!
These moments are precious. So grab your camera, enjoy the chaos, and watch the wonder unfold through your children's eyes. Here's to a fun-filled, laughter-packed Easter celebration that you and your toddler will cherish for years to come!
